Empowering Our First Responders, Caring For Our Students
SCU Emergency Medical Services (EMS) is operated by a group of 30 student-volunteers who are Nationally Certified and State Licensed EMT-Basics. This student-run medical care organization is dedicated to providing quality Basic Life Support (BLS) care, and responding to any medical emergency that occurs on university-owned property after hours (5pm-8am everyday). Many of the students are working towards careers as firefighter-paramedics, physician assistants, doctors, etc.
As a volunteer organization, student EMTs personally cover the costs of their uniforms and EMS certification. In addition to helping our students obtain their EMS Certification, your gift provides additional training needed to ensure student responders are well-prepared and supported during emergencies. Thanks to your generosity, student EMTs can focus on serving the campus community without carrying the financial burden of becoming and remaining certified.
SCU EMS serves a campus community of approximately 9,000 students, faculty, and staff. This past year, they answered over 200 calls, with the majority occurring between 9:00 p.m. and 3:00 a.m., when students rely most on immediate, on-campus care.
Your support ensures that highly trained student EMTs are prepared, equipped, and ready to respond whenever the community needs them.
