Jesuit Values in Action to Build a Healthier World
An SCU Public Health education trains students to be problem solvers and to apply public health, evidence-based approaches to the prevention of disease in society’s most vulnerable communities. Our students engage in real-world projects in the classroom and beyond, as they take on internships and work in community and research settings, and attend professional conferences with committed faculty mentors. Your support helps us provide applied training opportunities for our students.
Public Health Science Major Angellee Caballero (Class of 2026) discusses the impact of conducting research with people experiencing homelessness in San Jose in her Senior Capstone course:
“In public health, it’s easy to identify a health disparity, gather data, and write about it abstractly. But when you conduct outreach and community-based research, you see the realities that statistics can’t capture. Many [people] were eager to tell their stories because few people ever take the time to truly listen. That reinforced why this project matters; it bridges the gap between data and humanity.”
You have the power to impact our students’ lives through the transformative experience that is their Public Health education! Your gift strengthens our community by funding opportunities that provide hands-on learning, scholarships to present at Public Health conferences, leadership opportunities, and more. Public Health continues to be resilient in the face of challenges. With your support, our students are building a healthier world.
