Build a vibrant musical community with us!
The Department of Music creates a vibrant arts culture on campus for our majors, minors, and the broader university community. The generosity of our donors allow for a variety of opportunities for our students, including funding guest artists and master classes, off site performances and travel, the acquisition of new instruments and equipment, and the upgrading of our facilities.
This year, our orchestra, wind ensemble, and combined choirs combined for a fantastic showcase performance of Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana, a huge-scale undertaking that showcased the talent of our students, faculty, and alumni. Thanks to the Sinatra Chair in the Performing Arts and additional support from departmental gift funds, we’ve welcomed several of our world class alumni back to campus for performances alongside our students and faculty. Our SCU Chamber Singers performed for the third year in a row at a Golden State Warriors game, and our dedicated space at 733 Benton for jazz, commercial, and popular music continues to be upgraded to meet the needs of our modern student musicians.
For so many of our students, whether they are majors, minors, or participating in our ensembles, the music department provides a central home for their collegiate experience. Your generosity continues to build this musical community and foster the space for these life changing experiences to happen.
Thank you for your support!
Sincerely,
Scot Hanna-Weir
