Support Learning That Strengthens Our Shared Humanity
Your gift to the Department of Anthropology equips students to pair scientific rigor with compassion and social justice. Faculty mentor them through internships, research assistantships, independent projects, publications, and fieldwork—including archaeological and biocultural research with our partners in Yucatán, Mexico. In Fall 2026, we will open SCU’s first ethnographic lab, giving students a space to receive hands-on training and carry out collaborative research with faculty and their peers. Your support powers all of this work and makes it possible—from equipping our labs with data analysis technology to funding transformative field experiences. Join us in preparing SCU students to meet complex human challenges with insight and solidarity!
We also invite you to honor the legacy of our beloved colleague, primatologist and teacher-scholar Michelle Bezanson, through the Michelle Bezanson Anthropology Student Research Fund. This fund supports undergraduates conducting field research, conservation studies, and creative public scholarship and science communication. Michelle’s passion for ethical fieldwork, teaching, and art left a lasting mark on her students and colleagues. Two years after her passing, we continue to live and breathe her passion for teaching, creativity, and learning. Thank you for honoring her legacy with your gift today.
- Mythri Jegathesan, Chair of the Anthropology Department
